- IIDX Where do you get Beatmania IIDX Infinitas on PC (self.rhythmgames) submitted 1 year ago by apatrick126 I just want to know where do you get Beatmania IIDX Infinitas on PC because I seem to have trouble downloading the absolute latest one.
How to play Beatmania IIDX on your computer:
(Note: I used Windows XP, to my knowledge Mac won't work at all (this deals with exe files), but I'm sure any windows will)
Step 1: Download GCA (http://www.emit.jp/gca/gca_v09k.exe) and run it
Step 2: Install GCA to a folder where you will remember its location.
Step 3: Download Bemania DX (It's in a '.gca' file, which is why you needed GCA to 'unzip' it) to a folder where you will remember it's location
Step 4: Run (double-click) bmDX3095_dx.gca (the Bemania DX file)
Step 5: A window should pop up asking which program to use to open this file (because odds are your computer is new to GCA files)
click browse, or more, depending on which version of windows you use, and find GCA.exe (not the one you downloaded but the one that appeared in a folder called GCA after installing it) and double click it, use that program to open the file
Step 6: The GCA window should pop up with weird characters everywhere just click on OK (I don't know if it says OK or if I'm just so accustomed to computers that I assume it says ok, but either way its the button on the bottom of the pop up (not the main, smaller, GCA window) window second from the right, or the one most left of them bottom buttons...
Step 7: the bar in the main, smaller, GCA window should fill up all the way... click the 'OK' (same as above, but this time its the only button) on any error windows that might pop up during the unzipping process, this may or may not mean you are missing something... (see Appendix A)

Step 8: after GCA closes automatically, go to the folder where bmDX3095_dx.gca was. You will notice in that same folder there will be a new folder called 'bmDXv3'. Open that folder... Check to see if the following folders and files are in this folder.
Folders:
Def*
Help
Materials
Plug-in*
Skin*
Sound
Temp*
Files:
bmdx.ini*
bmdx3095.exe*
Help.html
Readme.txt
VBDDRAW.DLL*
VBDSND2.DLL*
Vbmp3.dll*
Vbsend.dll*
*: Critical to operation
After all critical files and folders are checked and double checked, you're ready... but unfortunately Bemania DX won't run without any songs ready to play... (logical people figure you don't need to run the program if you dont have any songs to play)
Step 9: Before you can play... to set up a song to be played in Bemania DX, you must do the following. (note: some places to get songs, both MP3 and BMS, will be covered in Appendix B)(note: new to beatmania IIDX? recommended songs in Appendix C)
1 | create a folder, inside the 'bmDXv3' folder, with a name that will alert you as to what song it is. |
2 | find the MP3 or WAV file of the song. |
3 | find the BMS file(s) for the song |
4 | put all pertinent files for the song in it's folder (MP3/WAV, BMS, JPG, etc.) |
5 | open any BMS files for any song, before running bemania DX, using Notepad. MAKE SURE that the file that is listed after the tag 'WAVFF' in the BMS file MATCHES the name of the MP3/WAV file of the song. (example: it should say alien world.mp3 if the name of the song file is alien world.mp3, be sure to remember .mp3 or .wav depending on which file you have... |
6 | the song should be playable now. Be smart, if something goes, wrong, figure it out, I'm trying to be as detailed as I can, based off what I know that works... |
Step 10: Run bmdx3095.exe
Step 11: in the tiny window that appears, make sure that Skin = Vision.4 or Vision.3 (the other ones suck too hard), Color = 16bit colors, and sound = 44100Hz 16bit STEREO. Joystick ID 1 and 2 are for something I dunno, I haven't used them yet, more info later, keep them on NONE to use the keyboard to play. And finaly make sure WindowMode is UNCHECKED, windowmode SUCKS hard ASS, don't even bother with it... Click the big white box near the top of the window to run the game (make sure IM programs like AIM are not on, because if another window Pops up during gameplay bemania will minimize and freeze, so you'll have to Ctrl+Alt+Del and get rid of it and re-run the program)
Step 12: Go to System Options, and configure the keyboard. it should highlight a key on the beatmania IIDX controller and wait for you to hit a key that will correspond with it, I personally use...
zsxdcfv[left shift][left ctrl](it will be done in that order on the configuration, watch and make sure to become familiarized with the key positions, it makes sense doesn't it?)
Step 13: go through all other options and change whatever you want, like difficulty levels and whatnot, play around with the options a tad, then go into play mode and have a ball...
(note: if you are new to beatmania IIDX, you might have a difficult time, because there are very few light7 songs out there on BMS files anyways, my suggestion is to find a light7 BMS file that is easy, and start with that, or just play hard ones and fail horribly until you get good, but remember, theres no substitution for the PS2 japanese version or the arcade game which all songs have light7s on them and range from super easy to should-be-7key difficulty, good luck and be sure to remember its just a game and have fun with it... its an acquired taste...)
Appendix A: sometimes, when you download the bmDX3095_dx.gca, depending on how you download it, you might not download the entire thing. If your file is smaller than 2120 Kilobytes (2.12 Megabytes) then you don't have the ENTIRE file, and thus will be missing files when its unzipped and will receive error messages during the process, If the file did not have all the critical files and folder neccessary for normal running of the prgram, please delete the bmDX3095_dx.gca file, AND the bmDXv3 folder that was created that was missing files... wait a while and try again, make sure the GCA file is close enough to 2120 that you think it will have the critical files...
Appendix B: You need songs to play... here are some sites to help you

BMS files: (requires WINZIP to unzip the BMS files from the .zip files they come in)
http://www.geocities.com/_2220/bms/
MP3 files: (note: some files are encoded in WINZIP, and WINRAR, please have these programs installed on your computer in order to 'unzip' these files)

(note: click on the drag box near the top of the song list and look for the beatmania IIDX original soundtracks or Game soundtracks, remember what style its from, oh and they dont have all the songs from all the styles, just be sure to search hard)
http://www.bemanistyle.com/media.htm (currently only the 9th style songs are up, and not all of them too :-( )
Appendix C:
My favorite songs:

Remember, make your own favorites, sometimes downloading random songs you can find will give you a new favorite, and ask friends who play IIDX as well, they could know some cool songs...
Thank you for reading my little FAQ, and I hope I've been of some service to someone somewhere...
